1. Cortina – Italy

No list of the best skiing destinations in the world would be complete without mentioning Cortina, so we’re just going to go ahead and remind you right now: this is the place to be when you’re looking for a luxurious ski getaway. Enjoy the stunning scenery that surrounds this region from your room or private chalet, or travel down into the town proper to sample local champagne and enjoy amazing regional meals from some of the best restaurants in the country.

2. Courchevel 1850 – France

This is one of the most expensive ski resorts in the world. Stay in this incredible lodge and you’re sure to be surrounded by celebrities and the type of high life you want to be seen with. The lodge features several individual chalets for an exclusive, private experience on the slopes, and it can also provide you with some of the highest-class instructors in the world. Be sure to stop by one of the Michelin-star restaurants on site while you’re staying in this incredible getaway.

3. Yellowstone Club – Montana

This was once one of the most exclusive private ski resorts in the world. Today, it remains still very exclusive and very hard to get into, but it’s a little bit more well-known than it once was. Some of the wealthiest and most private people in the world have stayed at this lodge, including Bill Gates and many United States presidents throughout the years. You have to either be a member of this lodge or know someone who can get you in, but if you’re making the right connections, there’s always a chance you can take a trip to this luxury resort.

4. Klosters – Switzerland

Some of the world’s most glamorous and most beautiful can be seen vacationing at this amazing ski lodge. Klosters has also been a favorite destination of the British Royal Family throughout the years, and although they haven’t been spotted there for a few years now, it remains a popular place for models, stars and the wealthy to hob-nob together over wine or vodka. Make sure you stop by the on-site Casa Antica night club for an experience you’ll never forget, and while you’re in the area, stay a night or two in the Walserhof hotel where the Royal Family has been known to show up from time to time.

5. Eagle Point – Utah

The skiing in Utah is among some of the best in the world, and this is why the Winter Olympics were once held among the mountains of Utah. If you want to have an experience like that all to yourself—or to yourself and up to 200 of your closest friends and family—you can rent the entire Eagle Point Resort, which includes a whole mountain that you can, at least temporarily, call your own. The $10,000 per day rental fee includes the cabins, bar, night club, hot tubs, and all the on-site slopes for your private use. It doesn’t get a lot more exclusive than this.

6. Telluride – Colorado

When you want to ski among the rich and famous while looking like you absolutely belong with them, Telluride is the place to be. Celebrity spotting is easy to do in Aspen, Colorado, but in Telluride you’re a lot more likely to run into a few famous people just enjoying some time away from the spotlights for a while. Just remember to match the local attitude—people in Telluride don’t make a big deal out of the celebrities wandering around the slopes and shops, and everyone involved wants to keep it that way.

7. Baqueira Beret – Spain

Baqueira Beret is a lesser-known ski destination that nevertheless caters to some of the wealthiest people in Spain, including members of Spanish royalty. The scenery is breathtaking in this region, and the skiing is phenomenal here too. This one may be off your radar, but if you’re willing to take a trip to Spain, the on-site Hotel Val de Neu is the best place to spend your time at Baqueira Beret. Be sure to spend some time at the on-site spa and enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants that make up this beautiful and charming resort.

8. Sun Valley – Idaho

This is an oldie but a goodie. Sun Valley was the first luxury ski resort built in America with the sole purpose of catering to the winter wishes of the wealthy. Some of these high-class individuals even own land in the region, so you’re always likely to run into someone famous while you’re staying in Sun Valley. Stay in the resort’s Dollar Cottage for the ultimate in luxury getaways at this location. It runs almost $2,000 per night, but includes a deck hot tub, six bedrooms and bathrooms, its own fireplace and tons more incredible amenities.

9. Deer Valley – Utah

Winter with the stars at the ever-popular Deer Valley resort in Utah. This isn’t as pricey as most of the other options on our list, but if you’re located in the United States you also won’t have to go out of the country to get there, which can make it a great quick weekend getaway. This ski resort hosts the annual Celebrity SkiFest and the Sundance Film Festival, so if you’re hoping to meet someone famous, these are both great times to stop by.
